Volunteers  Needed- Make a Difference in Your Community
Volunteers make up more than 90 percent of the workforce for Pigtown Main Street’s activities. Find out how you can get involved in the revitalization of the Washington Blvd commercial corridor. We require a commitment of eight hours per month (donated in increments) unless otherwise specified below.

Leadership Volunteers

These volunteers supervise other volunteers, while carrying out the overall goals of the organization.

  • Volunteer Management: Assist with volunteer recruitment, placement, record keeping and recognition.
  • Volunteer Supervision: Supervise other volunteers.

Skilled Volunteers

Volunteers in this area have or are interested a specific skill or trade.

  • Social Media:
    • Attend events and activities
    • Create and publish social media images and content
    • Support Marketing Coordinator
  • Marketing:
    • Mentor business owners to help them achieve their goals
    • Support Marketing Coordinator
  • IT:
    • Troubleshoot computer,  printer and network connectivity issues.
    • Other support, as needed.
  • Landscaping:
    • Planting and maintaining donated shrubs and trees
    • Watering trees and plants throughout the business district weekly
    • Mulching
  • Office Management:
    • Assist with office operations and maintenance.
    • No experience required.
  • Finance/Accounting:
    • Review the organization’s financial statements.
    • Participate in monthly Finance Committee conference calls.
  • Logistics:
    • Assist with the flow, setup and breakdown of Pigtown Main Street’s events.
    • No experience required.

Committee Volunteers

Help us design, organize and plan events.

  • Design Committee:
    • Attend a two-hour meeting once per month in the evening
    • Complete committee assignments independently between meetings
    • Plan and organize:
      • Activities that make our business district cleaner, greener and safer.
      • Bloom the Boulevard, our biannual greening day
      • Monthly cleanups

 

  • Promotions Committee:
    • Attend a two-hour meeting once per month in the evening
    • Complete committee assignments independently between meetings
    • Plan and organize:
      • Events and promotions that support our small businesses, including:
        • Pigtown Festival
        • Small Business Saturday
        • and more!

Event Based Volunteers

Volunteers in this category are signing up to support a specific calendar event and are only called upon on the day of the event and for orientation, if needed.

  • March 2018- Main Street Clean-Up
  • April 2018- Light City Neighborhood Lights
  • April 2018- Bloom the Boulevard
  • May 2018- Main Street Clean-Up
  • September 2018- Bloom the Boulevard
  • October 2018- Pigtown Festival
  • November 2018- Small Business Saturday
