Marketing Coordinator

Work Objectives:

  1. Provide Ongoing Small Business Support

The Marketing Coordinator will support Pigtown Main Street’s goal to retain small businesses on Washington Boulevard.  He/she is responsible for developing a rapport with each business owner in the district, understanding the needs of the business owner and providing technical assistance to help the business owner achieve his/her goals.  The Marketing Coordinator will coordinate with the Executive Director to provide the resources each business needs to meet its goals, including marketing, business plan counseling, permits, access to capital, human resources management and more.

  1. Plan Community Events

The Marketing Coordinator will work with volunteers to organize the organization’s major events, including the Pigtown Festival, Bloom the Boulevard and Small Business Saturday.  Additionally, the Marketing Coordinator will work with local residents and other volunteers to create new events to promote Pigtown Main Street and attract new customers to local businesses.

  1. Represent Pigtown Main Street at community meetings and events

The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for representing Pigtown Main Street at events and meetings on behalf of the organization, taking notes and reporting to the Executive Director.

  1. Supervise Americorps Member

The Marketing Coordinator will supervise the Volunteer Maryland Coordinator, a full-time Americorps member who will recruit and manage the organization’s volunteers.


A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, business administration or a related field with 1-3 years experience in sales, event management or membership.  The ideal candidate will be outgoing, self-confident and persistent with strong written and verbal communication skills.  Candidates should be prepared to work flexible hours that will include evenings and weekends.  Candidates would ideally have an interest and passion for small businesses and community development.  Proficiency in Amharic, Mandarin and/or Spanish and an ability to multitask are pluses.
